Progeny from Deer Valley All In were a popular pick for bidders at Saturday’s Dance Angus bull sale, Glen Innes, with the two top purchases sporting that blood.
Of the 48 bulls offered 45 sold to a 93 per cent clearance and an average of $6344.
Shaun and Tom O’Brien ‘Pineview’ Bundarra bought two bulls and bid the top money of $10,500 for lot one Dance All In L98 by Deer Valley All In 2138 from Dance Equator V191.
The well muscled bull, rising two years, had estimated breeding values (EBVs) of +55, +102 and +131 for 200, 400 and 600 day weight; +3.6 birth weight, +22 for milk and +75 for carcase weight.
The father and son team, repeat Dance Angus buyers, run their bulls over a mixed herd that started with Hereford and ran to Shorthorn infusion but is now going straight black. Calves are grown out for the feeder market.
Good genetics and value for money brought the O’Briens back to Glen Innes and the elder, Tom, was miffed, yet chuffed, that the bulls he selected on figures (“I never used to pay attention to EBVs but I do now”) were exactly those chosen by volume buyers Tim and Michelle Ramsey, Girraween Pastoral Company, Bonshaw.
The Ramseys successfully bid through auctions Plus for six bulls including $9000 for Dance Total Impact L78 by Poss total impact 745 from a Double D New Design.

Mr Watson said his new purchase would be put to a handful of heifers this first season to ‘try out his loving’ before being turned out with his mixed herd of black and red Angus and Charolais from next year.

The Jackman family, Terry Hie Hie, bought two bulls for their weaner operation including a bid of $6000 for Dance Western Express J18 L83 by Dance Western Express J18 from Dance Henry E298.
Brian Winter ‘Mayfield’ Furracabad via Glen Innes bought Dance Bartel J96 L135 by Dance Bartel from Dance F370 for $5000 to provide calves for the feeder steer market.
